The largest selection exists in 2 width categories. A 26" to 27" runner width is most common for a staircase width of 39 inches or less. A 30" to 31" wide runner is often best for stairs 40 inches wide or more. Although fewer choices, 36" wide runners are also available for extra wide stairs.

Runners are generally woven using either wool or synthetic fiber. A few in our Wool category are a blend of Wool and Nylon. Regardless of the fiber, most woven products are constructed in similar ways on the same types of looms. The two fibers differ in appearance, color and texture. Either category includes products in an array of density, quality and price. Synthetic fiber is typically the less expensive choice. (Products are either wool OR synthetic - a given pattern is NOT available in a choice of fiber)
